One of a group of negatives taken for July 15, 1959, Arkansas Gazette article "Transplanted Pottery Plant Thrives," B1:3. A.J. Dryden Jr. set up a pottery shop in Hot Springs that really took off. Dryden hired only Hot Springs residents and trained the majority of them on the job. His leaflet, Ouachita Mountain Pottery, tells about the company and the surrounding Arkansas sites. Pictured is J.B. Buck (originally a novice, but trained at the company) putting on finishing details to some pottery awaiting the final firing. Ouachita Mountain Pottery is located in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas.
